Fingerprint Technician – NON-SWORN
You don’t have to be a police officer to work for the Baton Rouge Police Department. In fact, BRPD offers several employment opportunities for civilians, including supporting BRPD communications, receiving and responding to information requests, and classifying and identifying fingerprints.
Fingerprint Technician
Fingerprint Technicians are responsible for classifying and identifying fingerprints, as well as processing all prisoners arrested by BRPD officers and other agencies through Live Scan. Fingerprint Technicians’ duties also include recording prisoners’ information, collecting fingerprints, and taking photographs.Shift Hours
- Days | 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- Nights | 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
- Fixed shifts with rotating days off
Salary
- $10.59 hourly/$1,836 monthly
- Raise after six months to $1,890 monthly

- Bachelor’s degree – $2,000.00 annually
- Master’s degree – $2,500.00 annually
Shift differential pay
- Evenings – $0.50/hour
- Nights – $1.00/hour
