Police Cadet
This is a position of training in general police work following well-defined procedures and techniques. Employees in this class perform regular and routine assignments as instructed, and any independent action, initiative, or judgment may be utilized as experience is gained. A designated superior officer receives all general and special assignments or instructions. Work performance, methods, and results will be reviewed through reports, inspections, and discussions. Police Cadets will not be allowed to carry weapons except in compelling and emergencies. Continued employment in this class is conditional and depends upon a satisfactory tenure of service. Upon reaching age 21, a cadet may be automatically allocated to the class of Police Officer provided he passes the police officer civil service entrance examination; such allocation supersedes any existing employment list.“If you have currently passed a Civil Service test with a 75% or higher in this position, you must complete the BRPD Intake and BRPD application. EARNINGS
As of Sept 10th, 2022, new, Police Cadets can earn up to $35,130 after one year.

Base starting salary | $29,578 – annually |
After six months from the date of hire (3% merit increase) | $30,466 – annually |
After one year from the date of hire (3% merit increase) | $31,380 – after one year |
